Default Range With EFI 4.5 Gal Tank

And to complete the set: how far can you go on the 4.5 gal tank before you have to fill up?

idiot light comes on at 115, fill up at 126

i can safely cruise to 135-140 before i cant hard accelerate from a stop light because of fuel surges, thats when i know its time for its dinner. i almost always end up filling 3.6 to 4.0 at the pump

i got bad mileage

I could say the same about my Sporty! Same mileage exactly. When it was new, I recall getting about 165 ,iles per tank so the mileage has gone down. But who really cares when your getting almost 50 MPG???

That was the wrong question. Tank doesn't "have to" be filled filled til almost empty, but most put when they actually do fill.

The proper question is what is your mpg, using trip meter to count miles between each fill.

Unless, of course, you were wondering if acceleration or something else was effected by low fuel.

OK, I was re-thinking this and I get right at 50 MPG. So, if I had to use the entire tank, I would be right at 190-200 miles for the tank. But I don't like to take it down that far.
Made that mistake some years back when I was riding into the Redwood Run....Misgauged my gas and ended up having to shut it down when on a down hill portion of the road and then did quite a bit of coasting whenev I could. Finally made it to the gas station and it took right at 4.1 gallons to fill....Whew! It was a close one!!!

I'm so sorry for asking the wrong question.

The trouble with just knowing what fuel mileage people are getting, is no one seems to know the actual capacity of the EFI tanks: less than the nominal capacity, due to the fuel pump, but how much less?

The quoted capacity is 17 L, mine, 1200L, yesterday lit up the fuel light at 120 miles. I filled the tank at 125M, and it took 10L!
So in theory it used 10L for 125M!
I suppose that means there was still 7L left at 125M.
One day I’ll strap a fuel bottle on the rack and run it dry, then I’ll have a rough idea how far I can ride before “oh shit,”
