Not sure about other states, but Virginia law states at least 15" from the ground. Having the headlight that low would be a nightmare in the rain at night.

Welcome aboard. When it comes to forwards, I bought a set off this sight from a "donor", the only mod's necessary were the linkages and finding the correct splined shaft for he shift lever. You can modify anything to fit so have some fun making the bike fit your needs.

I've actually got the forward controls in hand. I'm thinking of mounting the shift side on it due to my bum knee...-we'll see if i get used to the present configuration or grow weary of it.

After some review-pretty sure all the tin was repainted- i'm calling it a plum metalflake. Seems like a wasted opportunity to throw in some purple pearl...

I know the frame mounted light may not be everyone's cup of tea, but i think some wide, low, fairly straight bars, 2 inch tank lift and tuck job on the wires would have the front looking very clean.

That 'Hot Bike' cover..how come her braids weren't flappin' in the wind and No bugs in her teeth. The headlight looks like something bought at tractor supply, but it looks cool. You ought to be able to see all the little critters at night.....Kaptain, the '82 anniversary bike was in several magazines back in 82 and I think I still have the Cycle World mag, with it in there. Burgundy and silver...colors of the 80's. As far as forward controls go, they were so expensive back then that most of us opted for CustomChrome (before they started using K's--KustomKhrome) highwaypegs and I learned to shift and brake using my heels. Judging by all the beautiful pictures of Ironheads on this Forum, you are going to have your work cut out for you trying to decide on what defines You. Have fun.

The PO did you a favor by removing the forwards(IMNHO).
Those wrapped drag pipes are good on the dragstrip.... are you planning on drag racing it?
There are numerous things that I would change, but it's your bike and it's all about "customizing it" now to what you like.

I'd say that just a set of Pcams, some head work to flow in and out, the thin head gasket(making sure the fire ring doesn't bottom out)for a wee bit more compression, a 2 >1 exhaust or a crossover header with some cut off's (hole sawed the guts to 1-1/4"), a nice dialed in CV carb from an EVO, with a high flow K&N air filter, would do the trick for me,,,,,,, but heey, is your bike, ENJOY!!!

Thanks! It's already got a better carb on it. Considering the other stuff done to it, I'm wondering if it already has mild cams but not sure. I'm not going to race it (much) but I love the pipes and the sound. To me it's a toy to unwind to and from work and maybe go to dinner. Basically a bar hopper but I don't go to bars. Working 2 jobs for past several years, plus finding time for family doesn't leave much time for long trips. I just want to get out and rip it a bit and be in a good mood when I get home to see my girls.
