Default Can you Drown a Sportster ???

My 1999 Sportster and me just been through 2 massive cloud bursts in 2 days. One riding about 15 mile the last one it sat out in it for a couple hours. Now there is no start,no crank over but it will Jumper Start but battery drains down.I found one 15 amp fuse blown ,replace it still the same no/go. Do I have something wet like a switch or starter or am I again looking another issue ???

In my opinion, Harley did a lot for water proofing connectors with the rubber boots on them.
But that didn't moisture proof them.

Connectors that get wet, sit and dry still collect moisture inside the connections.
Start with the wiring down stream of the burnt fuse.
Check all connectors inline from there.
You may find cleaning them and then adding a (small) amount of dialectic grease will help with moisture.
But every cause has an affect.
Too much grease and it can eventually collect dust and you're back in the same boat.

One of my inheritances was a constant blowing of the headlight fuse.
I checked the connectors to find corrosion had grown between them.
I cleaned it, greased it and I've had no problems since.

My 2006”R” ,ran its third I.B.A. Saddle Sore 1000, out of Port Huron, Michigan, around lakes ?Erie and Ontario, looping back to Port Huron. We started in rain, had 900 miles of it with 1/4” hail east of Toronto. Didn’t miss a beat the whole 20 hours.

Here is a related question. My 2008 1200xl doesn't have a ocver over the fuseblock? Just the side anel.... shouldn't there be a cover over the fuses to protect from rain?

Mine doesn't have a cover either. I've ridden in 200+ miles of rain at one time , where I had to stop and empty my boots, but the bike never hesitated. I keep the fuse block well lubed with dielectric grease. Other bikes, in the past, I've had to go as far as replacing some of the harness boots because they would collect water and some I would have to blow out ALL the harness connectors with compressed air. Never had a bike take on water in the fuel tank but that could always be a possibility.
Jezebelle: Even tho the fuse block isn't covered, this is the first place to check for corrosion when experiencing electrical issues but it doesn't seem to have moisture problems, otherwise.

Im beginning to think it may have a different issue than water.I will try to test the Stator ,I replaced the other components recently. Its kinda getting old having an issue with it every couple weeks. It seems to be Dependable ,Dependable on Breaking.....
