naw i ran her hard since i picked her up in march about 5k miles ago.

it was about time i guess glad it happened where it did i was able to get off the exit and to a gas station and she idle and died

so i'll see what it looks like after tare down tomorrow and see how long i'll be down

She ran great for what i put her threw and can't expect much more out a 31 year old bike.

Based on my own recent teardown, sounds like rings.

I've been told by a few people that valve guide seals wouldn't be steadily smoking like you're describing.

Is the inside of your front pipe caked in fresh oil?

$500 and a weekend of work could have gotten you two new cylinders/pistons/rings/wrist pins from VTwin/ZoomCycle.

sure i can do it myself but id be a first time tare down on a motorcycle( i've rebuild 2 4bangers) but having the wisdom of years of experiance by me side a bike in need and some brews sounds fun too

got it back yesterday road it home 30miles in the rain down the mountain...I don't wanna pickle...with 2 deer jumping in front of me,never touch the brakes thought this is it while leaning into a sharp left turn.I felt inches away from the second ones tail( probly 3feet or so but still) Made it home (to the bar) to have a drunk milf waring just a white sheer sundress saying shes in love with my voice while unbuttoning my shirt.Needless to say her Boyfriend walks in to pick her up. Surprisingly no beef with me he walks ack to his car and waits for her to finish her drink?! So i ride home and park her inside.

Today i went for a lil trip around the mountains. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...00256&t=h&z=10 Breaking her in under 3k for the first 500miles it tuff when she feels so much more alive then when i bought her, but so far so good. this weekend I'm off to The finger lakes For an Interesting Camping Adventure.

Wow!! You had more excitement in one short ride and barstop than I've had in years!!!! Two types of 'tail' in one ride as well

Ride safe and enjoy your new motor.

Eric
