I had a problem with the right side fuel tank on the last shovel I bought. Whoever mounted the tanks put a lot of stress on the mounts and that (along with the rust) caused it to crack and leak. Had to make a new bung for the rear mounting screw and weld a big patch in. I don't know what brand the sealer was, but it came out looking like the rubber bladder in a football. The inside of tank itself was so rusty I was afraid to push on it, thinking it might cave it. The liner was at least 1/8th inch thick, and coated with rust from the tank. I never have used a sealer in a tank, I've always pressure tested and fixed any leaks.

I have never used sealer either. Problems will come, eventually. Pressure test the tank and if it has a leak, fix it. Or pay another to do so. That is the permanent fix.

My brand of snake oil for the last fifty years has been Marvel Mystery Oil.
I use about 4oz to every 5 gallons of non ethanol premium fuel.
Other than being an exellent top engine cleaner it leaves a nice thin coat on all of the fuel components.
