There are many ways to adjust valves

A common old method
As the intake starts to close adjust the exhaust
As the exhaust starts to open adjust the intake

That is pretty straight forward and works

Now how about getting a factory shop manual and using that that.

Well it is the method I used the last time with no issues. I have a manual. I will give your method a try as well. Won't know anything until I get at it. I'm just hoping it's what is making the noise. I checked the rod play more than once, and it wasn't there prior to the top end rebuild.

dave, i'm glad you found it to be as simple as adjusting the push rods, however, judging from your vid and the fact that you have the enrichener on in the vid, i think you need to increase your idle speed; that thing should be galloping. if you were to turn the enrichener off your idle would drop off to almost nothing. unless, of course, you made that adjustment after the vid...?

doodah, I did exactly that after the video. Found the idle mixture sweet spot and turned the idle speed up a little.

Nice Rocky! I have a mini fridge in my portable shelter. That's my garage. But the mosquitoes were getting bothersome. I have to add my new directionals and fix the front brake light. Damn tire hits the wires where the PO relocated them, and need the brake light for inspection sticker. Oh, I did find out the primary jet is a 295 and main is a 68, air bleed 040. I did add 10 inch Krome werks baffles to the open drags.
