As IXL2Relax mentioned, Be Patient, Be Accurate, Be Methodical & Be Thorough...

We can't see what you see and pics would also be helpful.

Methodically speaking...
If it's not getting any juice other than the accel pump, the float level set too low could be suspect.
The idle setting would also be suspect.
Blocked jets also.
The accel pump pulls fuel from the bowl (what sprays when you give quick throttle).
The idle circuit pulls fuel from the bowl through the jets.

At idle, fuel enters the main jet where it is metered and enters the slow jet where it is metered again.
Then fuel enters the slow jet bleed tube to mix with air from the slow air passage.
Air is drawn in through the slow air jet and is mixed with the fuel in the bleed tube portion of the slow jet.
When the throttle valve is closed, this air/fuel mixture flows into the venture almost entirely through the idle port port where it is metered by the idle mixture (low speed) screw.
So the slow jet bleed tube is actually part of the slow jet.

If it won't idle, you should concentrate on the idle circuit.
How did you clean the jets?
Can you visually verify the hole in the middle is clear?
Did you rod the bleed holes on the sides of the jet / emulsion tubes?
This is how the fuel is mixed with air to get to the engine.
Did you rod the idle and transfer ports?
If not, did you blow air threw all the ports to verify they are clear?
There is a drilled passage in the carb body from the main jet to the slow jet.
That is where the slow jet gets it's fuel.
Can you verify that passage is clear?
Check that the jets have been screwed back in snug.

Eliminate the possibility of air leaks (intake seals).
A split or cracked / left off vacuum line?
If this indeed is an 86 carb,
You should have a VOES unless the ignition has been changed.
You should also have a vacuum port on the carb for the VOES.
How is this plugged if not using the VOES?

The old air/fuel rubber washer can get lodged up in the chamber and not come when everything else does.
The best technique is to stick a pipe cleaner in the hole, twist it around, and, like magic, out come the other parts on the end of the pipe cleaner.

Check the idle (low speed) adjustment?

Choke adjusted properly?

Also check for fouled spark plugs.

Ok guys, heres an update. I have been on holiday for 2 weeks to greece. I dont advertise the fact I'm goin away on facebook or any website whatsoever for obvious reasons Then I've been busy playin catchup with work and other priorities. So I'm sorry for the late reply. But we have a result. I went through the carb rebuild like a surgeon, makin sure I did not miss anything, but I did not do anything different than previous rebuilds. The only thing I did different was make thin rubber gaskets instead of using gasket paper to fit between the carb and manifold. I have used gasket paper many times and things have been fine. Anyways today I refit the carb and crossed my fingers, said a little prayer and pushed the start button. YIPPIE, it starts running, and I do a little dance because I'm so relieved that now I can enjoy my weekend. In all honesty I dont think the rubber gaskets solved my problem but maybe after flushing the holes through where the jets go fixed it without me seeing it. I am grateful for all the replys you guys gave and I took notice of every one. I am one happy chappie. Cheers, DYLAN.

Yes...a Ka-sneeze Carb... the rubber bung must be in place over the low speed Jet[intermediate it is also called]
What numbers are on the Jets? You didn't poke wire in the jets now didja??
When you unscrew the low speed jet [the one on the top] and blow air thru it are all of the Transfer ports open??
These are very simple carbs... just like a Bendix, and Therefore Just like any S&S
Tune it accordingly..

Folkie, I did nothing different on the rebuild, only on the refit, and as I said, I dont think that this was what cured the problem.
