I like all of them, not sure if I would buy one or not. Still waiting to see what the LiveWire spec's are before I get excited.

I'm a huge fan of the Adventure bike. I currently own a BMW R1200GSA and love it. I put more miles on the BMW than I do my Sportster right now. I would certainly be a buyer of an HD Adventure bike.

I like that the new models don’t try to conceal the radiator and hose.
H-D is saying: Yeah, it’s water-cooled! You got a problem with that?

Now it makes sense why they dropped the v-rod. These are the new v-rods.

Is that the V Rod motor?

Don't know why this got moved to other motorcycle, HD could designate any of these as Sportsters.

I am assuming that's exactly what will happen. The current Sportster motor and frame are now 14 years old. It is currently the oldest platform in the lineup, by a long ways. I would be looking for an updated Sportster for 2019 or 2020 at the latest. Expect this "modular 500 - 1250" platform to be the "new" Sportster very soon.

So, to answer the initial question, Yes, this is the beginning of the end of the Sportster as we know it.

That's my opinion at least. We'll see what the dealer meeting brings in August.

I realize that it seems likely that someday the EPA and EU will basically require the Sportster as we know it to be doomed. But the EPA isn't going to have any teeth for at least the rest of the current administration's term, and who the Sportster may well survive much longer.

Remember there's not a lot of crossover of potential customers between these concepts (or the current Street) and most of the Sportster, Softail, and Touring models. And the Sportster still fills (maybe more than ever with the departure of the Dyna line and upscale pricing on most of the Softail line) a niche of middle price range bikes.

I'm going to continue to be cautiously optimistic that we're no where near the actual end of the air-cooled Sportster. But that's only going to be true if they're willing to continue to develop it a little more. So we'll see.

I'm pretty sure these are Revolution motors (derived from the current Street lineup, cousins to the original Vrod).
