1/4 turn is a significant amount for this adjustment. I am going with 1/8 turn steps until I land the sweet spot, then I will measure it. As I have said, I bet it's more than 1/2".

OK. Fine. I will replace what I think is a still fine working original bearing with 5K on it with the upgrade. If it proves me wrong and makes my issue go away or improve, then great.

FAG 7200-B-JP with higher temp rating, or FAG 7200-B-TVP with polymer glass cage and lower temp rating?

I don't see what difference that makes for a low mileage bearing that inspects well. But, I will replace it anyway, if only to resolve this aspect of the conversation.

Hell, I don't know... Taking it out, cleaning, and going by feel the way I was taught 50 years ago.

Does this bearing feel bad? How much play? Is it smooth?

It's not that hard to tell if a bearing is bad or not.
