A warranty is merely a piece of paper with tons of fine print, asterisks and lawyer jargon. The manufacturer decides if the issue is covered or not. Most often citing customer abuse, unauthorized modification or normal wear and tear.
Any attempt to challenge will cost about $300 per hour in attorney fees making it unfeasible.

Harley Davidson has proven time and time again not to trust their warranties so an extended warranty would not motivate me.
The truth is this bike is overpriced for what it is. It should be priced closer to the Rebel 1100.

Working with the dealer here in the UK I have not had any problems when I required warranty replacement of parts.

Depending on how you go about talking to folk has a dramatic effect on their willingness to help I have found.

And in the USA HD just got a major attitude adjustment in the courts about complying with the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act.
