These oil passages are quite small and the oil pump doesn't really produce all that much pressure.
So, something blocked an oil passage. Possibly (probably) had to get passed the oil feed gears to get up there. So, small solid particles. Hmmmmmn. What could that be ?

If it were my bike I would want to know.

If you haven't recently you should consider dropping the oil and looking for particles. In this case, most likely the nice shiny silver ones. The nice golden ones never get that big and they dull grey ones don't wither.

But those little hard shiny ones ?

The lack of a comma between "nice" and the second adjective means this is a cumulative adjective. So, the particles aren't "nice" but the color is.
And when you see that nice, gold metal-flake, black oil in your oil pan don't you wish you could paint your bike that color ?

You cleared something out of somewhere, I hope it didn't end up somewhere worse though. Is this a known method? How did you think of it, if the clog was below the lines? Anyways, that's awesome that it worked, I would consider a kerosene flush if I were you (I know it's a hot subject but I dont see why, it's right in the manual in the service after 500 section "flush with kerosene through drain plug" (I use return line though, drain plugs scare me on motercycles)

Edit: I didn't see 2nd page. I'm sure it's better advice than mine, but I'll leave it because it did help our bike and flushed quite a bit of gunk out (enough to clog the puke tube until a good kick at one point)

Obviously tearing in and finding the culprit would be satisfying, but that's a lot to do. Maybe I am lazy, but I also recently had the covers and jugs off so I knew what I could see was clean. Should've gone through it all with air, but didn't think of it at the time.

The English language is in fact, quite complex and nuanced. It's how lawyers and politicians earn their living. You'll find that very often, politicians are also lawyers. One of their most basic skills is to understand and know how to manipulate the English language.
