but IMO your bike deserves a better rear fender... or no rear fender at all...

Just wondering what prompted the change to a chain?

I'm still learning all this stuff, my boss is a big sport bike guy. That's the first comment he had about my Iron, "why does it have a belt?" I told him because that's how it's made but I would like to know "why".

Great looking bike, I think the whole this is perfectly executed.

to be honest i dont really know all the pros and cons for the chain conversion.
if anyone can correct me if im wrong.

belt have almost to none maintenance to do.
chain is messy, have to grease it most of the time after riding, it breaks and doesnt last as long as belt.
But chain looks nicer. and u can change the gear ratio.
and it allows more space for a larger wheel in the back.

the only reason why I changed it was for the look of the gold chain and my 180 rear wheel clearance issue.

I believe it is for better "performance". Look at sport bike, they are all chain driven.

I believe the dyna guys with their "club style" bikes all do a chain conversion too. Better for acceleration and wheelies!

It looks nicer too but like you said, there's none maintenance to do with a belt.
