Default Oil pipe fitting sizes for a 1988 oil pump upgrade please?

In another thread I was shown a discussion on how to replace a standard oil pump with the best pump that can fit. This is the thread in question...

xlforum.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1977681

So I am collecting the parts I will need but I am unfamiliar with the sizing of the hydraulic pipes. On the original 1988 oil pump there are two fittings on the right. The lower, smaller diameter fitting sends oil under pressure to the oil filter and the return from the filter goes into the upper slightly larger fitting before going up into the motor. What sizes are these fittings please, particularly the return from the oil filter?

I have seen a 90 degree elbow that looks as if it might fit once I have threaded the case but I'm not sure. This is the piece. (eBay link). Where do I learn about "AN6 JIC Flare" sizes? My Google Foo is lacking tonight.

Edit. AN is Army Navy, AN6 is a size. JIC is a similar scale but not exact, and flare is just the shape. But what size is the hose from the oil filter? ANWhat? Argggh.

Thank you.

Follow up, part number is 62564-86 but so far I've not found out what size it is.

Good afternoon (to me in the UK) Hippy.

Thanks for these links, I'll make sure to bookmark them. Now I know what size I need (AN5) I'm off to find it.

I've ordered a brand new oil pump from Harley, part number 26204-91A as given to me by AWSRACING. It's still in use on 2021 bikes so it must be OK.

AN5 fittings are rare as hens teeth, here anyway. 2 Hydraulic hose specialists I've spoken to say they don't have and can't get that size. I may have to replace the oil hose from the filter to the pump / fitting with AN6.

OR, am I overthinking it! The new pump will come with adaptors including part 22 on the parts list, 62564-86 1/4”-18 NPT to AN5 Flared Fitting. I just need an elbow with male 1/8-27 and female 1/4-18. AMIRIGHT? Or I can take this part from the old oil pump and use it. Yes, I'm slowly getting there. I think.

Maybe it's a UK thing but I can't find an elbow with different sizes here and the companies I have called have all said the same. SO, if instead of drilling the case out to 1/8" is there enough metal to drill it out to 1/4 so I can use this or similar...

https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/hydra...tings/3675843/

Edit. No drilling to 1/4, I have a mix and match of parts on the way. Look forward to getting them and doing the work.

The feed fitting on 91-03 pumps (62601-91 or 62601-91A) is an 1/8”-27 NPT to AN5 fitting.
If you have/buy that fitting, you'll just need an 1/8" NPT (M to FM) 90.
You don't have room between the hole and the pump for a 1/4" fitting.
Or you could buy a 1/8" M to 1/4" FM 90 but if you got to buy something anyway, I'd get the 91-03 fitting.
