Cool! We'll be here. Hope all goes well with the Dealer for you.

well I posted on the main lube board but in a nutshell- they found black streak on front piston and cylinder wall. cylinder looks to be at least 20thou egg shape or just in that spot. just odd that it just blew out front umbrella.

And, NO, not all Sportster blow a lot of oil when run hard...that usually happens with the wrong oil or too much oil, and sometimes it is an oil scavenging problem...and in all these instances it would be out of both breathers, not just one.

Kevin
You have forgot the most important condition: oil with too much water in it. Most of this problem is related to short rides ; no time to boil out condensation. This produce vapor that escape with oil at the breather when hot and vacuum when the vapor condensate ; more humidity come in the engine. If your oil look like a two cream coffee go for a good ride.

Time for 1200 upgrade. If you are capable you can pick up decent kits for under 550 bucks, or let the stealer do it and get the warranty. And like Jean said...ya have to ride them long enough to get it good and warm. Hell, my sportster sounds like all hell is breaking loose until I get about 30 some miles on it and everything has expanded and is gellin.

yes fully understand 'burning off' condensate or moisture in crank case. I drive 1/4 mile 25mph on gravel road (good warm up) then it is 20 minutes of 55plus (mostly+), 1/2mile 35mph in town to work.

So it sounds like you got a new front jug, piston and rings coming to you under warranty!

Cool!

The relatively new (less than 1 year old) 4 Stage Catch Can for the EBS has been proving itself to be a great solution. Even bikes that spit a lot. are having all the mess stay IN the catch can.
