Default Sea Foam warning

As many of you have voiced approval of Sea Foam gas/oil additive, I visited a friend who runs a small engine repair facility and asked him what his opinion was.

He said several years ago when it was $5-6 a bottle, he used it a lot, but when the price went up to $10+ per bottle, he switched over to Lucas gas and oil additive products and is much happier.

In fact, he showed me a quart mayonnaise jar that was filled with only Sea Foam product. One third of the way from the bottom, was a gel layer that looked like a jellyfish (Portuguese Man O' War). He said that's what happens over time with the Sea Foam and will plug up any small orifice in either the fuel or oil system on a motor, and said not to use it. He then showed me another jar containing only Lucas product and it was as clear as when it came out of the bottle.

Mind you this guy and I have been best of friends for over 45 years and he fixes all my small engines (lawnmowers, weedeaters, leafblowers, etc.) for free, so he has no financial interest in either product; he just wants to avoid repairing something that could be avoided in the first place.

Good to know, I never put it in the tank, just spray in through the carb.

I've used Sea Foam for many years without problems. Opinions may vary. I'll stick to what I do.

I have always been a fan of Lucas products and will continue to use them. Thanks for your input.

The gel appeared in the quart jar after just 2 months! And has sat like that for over a year.
I don't care if it's only petroleum hardening, I still don't like the idea that it changes appearance/viscosity at all!
BTW, he has no opinion on Sta-Bil as he hasn't used it, after being happy with the Lucas products.

Lucas products are good but so is seafoam in my opinion. I've used both and been happy with both. I put seafoam in my cars, bikes , mowers, and my tractor for the winter and they all start right up in the spring so that's proof enough for me.

I would not use either one or any other additive for that matter!
