Default mixing brake parts

one thing leads to another and now everything on my handlebars has been completely changed over time including the bars.
new master is made for dot 4.
do i
A: use the existing caliper but service it so there is no trace of the old dot 5 fluid?
B: upgrade the front caliper to one that is meant for dot 5?

i guess C would be to just flush out the 5 caliper with the 4 fluid since the type of fluid is listed on the reservoir not the caliper.

where you get into trouble is when you have ABS system.
at one time, even hd used dot 5 but with newer systems, the chance of cross mixing, they just use dot 4.
the big issue is that dot 5 does not hold water and glycol base will and if mixed, the water will inter-phase between the two and will corrode the aluminum parts. most rubber parts can handle either, except the ABS.

non-ABS 2003 and the lever and lines are new.
so maybe i could just use 5. it would match what has been previously run through the caliper.

Right. The caliper is supposed to have 5.

I was just thinking you wouldn't want to go smaller than the original bore size or you may not get brake lever travel.
if using stock calipers.
So what is the stock bore size?
