Proper maintenance and care has prevented me from having any problems, except for when the dumba$$ rear ended me and bent the fender. That wasn't the bike's fault though!

Bought my 07 XL last week in May, 4000 miles this weekend, no problems just wish the valvetrain was quieter, AMSoil has helped with that..

Okay I guess I'm the first. In almost 18,000 miles I've had just one problem that being a bad crank position sensor.

I have had 2 Sportsters. Both are/were 2006 1200C's.

On one, I blew a fork seal at 2500 miles, fixed under warranty.
On the other, I lost the primary seal at 1000 miles. The dealer found it weeping at the 1000 mile service. I didn't even know it was leaking because it hadn't dripped yet.
Also on that one, I had the rear exhaust bracket that bolts to the front sprocket cover break in half at the bend (at 5500 miles). Replaced under warranty.

Other than that, they have been trouble free and a lot of fun! I am a picky SoB. My FIL told me when I bought two Harleys that I better learn to work on them because they would require constant wrenching.

After seeing how trouble free both of our bikes were, he bought one about 9 months later. He couldn't believe I got an entire riding season out of them without any problems. He had always wanted one, but figured it would nickel / dime him to death. It has been a pleasant surprise.

04 883...Only a loose bolt on the upper belt guard. But at high RPMs sounded like a tranny going out!

I Guess I'm The Only One With Problems. My N Started Leaking Oil Within The First 20 Miles. The Crankshaft Positioning Sensor Seal Was Leaking. And The Problem I've Been Having Lately Is That The Low Fuel Light Will Turn On, And When I Go To Fill Up, I Can Only Put In A Gallon And A Half. I Thought That It Had To Be The Fuel Sending Unit. The Dealer Replaced It, And It Is Still Doing The Same Thing. Now I Think It Has Something To Do With The Tank Not Letting Me Fill Up To Its Capacity. I'm Taking It In This Weekend, Hopefully They Can Fix It. It Sucks Having A Range Of Only 1.5 Gallons Until The Fuel Light Turns On. We'll See What Happens.....
