It's more work to divorce one than it is to fix the cases.

I have an 81 left case that you can have for $75 plus shipping and you can cut the corner off it and weld it into your cases.

I think that works.... Mainshaft is the same to 71 to 84

Yes and I'd post a pic but you know the drill. Also I have to re-up my membership here. Any new way to post pics for free?

I'll know more when I get intel on what kind of shape the internals of the '70 are. This would also be a guy who could rebuild my 72 crankcase so I could go either way. If I have him rebuild the 72 I could trade the 73 case for partial payment maybe.

Also I got a lead on a machinist guy in my town who I may be able to get. I'm waiting for a call from somebody who knows him. I guess he's very good, busy, and hard to get and doesn't advertise.

Plus its much easier to get somewhat of a warranty on an assembly than it is to get it on pieces.
Also dont just base your shop perception on them paying an entry to run on the salt. Lots of shops have some kind of race entry, and then again lots of races have entrants that DNF or even DNS. Go to any major racing event on practice day and observe the competitors. If you have never done this you only get a glimps of the QUALIFIED entrants that make the show on raceday. Choose wisely.
No, you don't want to go to these people, not for an ironhead. You got a good day job and money to blow on a bauble, then fine. They have 6 garage doors you could drive trucks into, tables and tables of flywheels, a Vincent motor on the bench next to my blown case, racks and racks of cylinders like walking into one of the Great Pyramids. I'm walking along thinking is there an end to all these motor parts? Spendy candy store some people would get into. Me, not so much. Great place that knows everything about these motors, but nobody like me can afford them. I'm into a coupe grand on an ironhead, not $8500 for a base model Big Dog.
