Didnt see any issues getting them back together when reassembling.
As far as the voltage, I havent put a meter to it yet but thats what I'm doing soon as I have breakfast.. Just so I'm sure what I'm looking at, on the front of the solenoid there's three connection posts. The top one is the largest and comes from the positive battery, the middle one is the smallest with a small wire going to it. not sure of it's function. Then there's the bottom post. It apparently runs the starter itslef.
What kind of reading should i get from these when the start buton is pressed? What should I get when it isnt pressed?
I'm pretty good at figuring out stuff, I'm just not sure what clues i should be looking for,
The small wire is the one that energizes the solenoid, it comes from the starter relay. When you hit the starter button, the starter relay is pulled in and delivers 12v to the solenoid on the small terminal, energizing its coil to bridge the two larger wires together and power the starter motor.

When you release the start button, you should lose the signal to the start relay, which should then remove the 12v input to the small term on the solenoid. Allowing the solenoid to relax and remove power from the starter motor.

well. took the battery our and checked ALL the wires in the circuit board. made sure all the studs were covered with heat shrink, traced every wire for short. Found nothing. I bought a new battery yesterday. Installed it yesterday evevning and let it charge over night. I cranked it a few minutes ago and got same thing, starter stays engaged after the engine starts and I've released the start buton. I'm gonna take the solenoid back off and tear into it and see if there's anything going on inside this thing. If i cant find nothing, I'm gonna order another new one and hope i got a piece of crap with this one.
Anyone got anymore ideas about what this could be?

Use the return spring from your old solenoid and use a test light to see if the small wire powering the solenoid goes off when you let go of your button.
