Default Broke my drive belt (Stay With The Belt Or Do A Chain Conversion?)

The question is would you stay with the belt or do a chain conversion? If you did the switch are you happy with it? Pros and cons.

On a sportster, I will stay with a belt. On a FX, seriously consider a chain conversion because of the work involved.

That's what I'm debating myself . I need to replace the drive pulley if I stick with the belt. Swore I was going to convert back to chain, but don't have proper part numbers for sprockets , and I figured out why my belts were breaking . A couple were adjusted too tight. Kinda tough to adjust by myself with extended shocks. Last one drive pulley was wobbling. You know what's up with yours breaking ? If you go with chain I might be interested in your drive pulley if you offset costs some.

I converted to chain on my 06 and never looked back. It puts the sport back into Sportster.

tired of hearing chain noise is why I switched to scooters, but now Im building a sporty chopper, itll be belt drive

This guy went with 520 chain but you can get 530 chain and sprockets easy enough.

A lot depends on how many miles you put on the bike, chains wear out along with the sprockets a whole lot sooner than a belt normally, unless maybe you have huge horsepower.
I've had much better longevity out of belts, I've got about 90,000 miles on the current belt on my big Electraglide with 181,000 on the bike in total.
I'm on my 3rd belt, lost one prematurely due to rock damage from a gravel road I shouldn't have been on.
My last chain drive bike was an '84 FXRS, pretty much had to do a chain every 10,000 miles or so, usually a new rear sprocket every second chain and a front after three.
I had 125,000 miles on that bike when I sold it. (regretfully, great bike)
Chains are a lot easier to change, at least till a front sprocket is needed on a big twin.
Sportys with the right side drive I think I'd stick with a belt on anything but a big power short distance bar hopper.

Thank you. Really trying to determine is either sprocket would have an offset. I don't think they would . The offsets seem to start at 1/4" and my rough measuring indicates a descripancy of less than .090 " , but this is going off of memory of where belt rode in rear pulley and wear marks in drive pulley . Anyway think with spacer from thread two flat sprockets is go.
