My grandfather had that exact same truck only in red.... and no Honda signs, and it was rusted...

What was we talking about again?

They sure knew how to advertise, back in those days. If Honda is outselling Harley now, how come I hardly ever see a Honda on the highway? Most of the Honda's, I see lately, are Lawn Mowers and Snow Blowers. Do they count these, too?

truth told, honda had to use american truck as the usa will not allow their trucks to enter the usa because it would put big trucks out of business. japan engineers and usa compromises.
look at the crapola GM is forcing down the usa public, take it or leave it.

+1, Using "Chevrolet" pickups in their advertising was a marketing ploy. Chevrolet's big campaign, in those days was "See the USA in a Chevrolet". Honda , I would guess, Latched onto this to help promote how acceptable their motorcycles were. Even tho "GM" was the backbone corporation for Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Cadillac and Buick, these car companies were still individual companies. It wasn't until the 1980's, that they started to promote "GM" as an, I don't know, entity, maybe. GM got sued in the late '70s for putting Chevy engines in Pontiacs and Oldsmobiles. Customer's complaint: Misrepresentation of Automobile brands. Most customers, in those days, were very Brand Loyal.
As far as Japanese trucks, in the '60s, goes, weren't they the size of go-karts?
