Just finished installing my new layback riser speedo mount solution!

Bought an aftermarket mount that matches the original, cut it up and welded it back together with the cylinder at 90 degrees to the bracket. Painted in wrinkle black to match the stock one.

I'm dead pleased with it - pics to follow!

I went with a couple pieces of steel tubing and longer screws into the headlight brow holes. A little filing for clearance and the holes lined up nicely.
With 3.5" risers I wanted the speedo off the clamp.

Here's a shot of the mount. I held the speedo up to get an idea on the tube length then cut it. Then measured how long a screw I needed.
I like it as is, it cleans up the handlebars and lowers the speedo to a less obnoxious height.

I used short spacers, 1/2” thick, with rubber washers on either side of the speedo/tach bracket.

Cool , thanks Helbent4, and Maxeffort. I've been lazy this year. I did not get to wrenching on my Sporty this year -been playin on my other rides (with what little time I been able to scrape up this year).

I have a Baron Custom Accessories Mini-Bullet Tachometer w/Black Face - BA-7573-01 I need to install on the (95) Sporty. (that link is just for pic, I didn't buy it there)

I put a 48 front end on it 2-3 years back, including the headlight (and utilizing the old housing! [was kind of a feat -for me anyway]). I never got around to writing up and posting the whole affair (although I did document everything so I could). I also customized the front wheel rim for running tubeless tire ;^)

Wandering a bit off-topic ...here's a pic...

Here's the upgrade....

Stock (acqusition). The ugly duckling...


48 Front End I picked up. Included Headlamp, Axel + Spacers, Stablizer, Risers, and Brake!...


The dealeo....




Notables:
- upgraded headlight assembly installed into stock headlamp housing ::grin::
- I kept the old-school brow and speedo mount assemblies
- I picked up a/the long style front fender and installed the stock mud-flap hardware on it.
- I modified the bars a little (thats why they appear orangish -from the torch [still gotta clean that up])
- unfortunately could not use the new risers -another day for that.

One day I gotta post it up.
