thank you guys - I looked all over the pipes for any writing and found nothing. Hey 60Gunner you said "back side of the mufflers" so...inside the pipe?

As you can tell I'm just learning exhaust terminology - mufflers and baffles live inside the pipes - normally you can't see them unless they're slip-ons, is that right?

and drag pipes are just hollow tubes, with nothing inside for back pressure?

hey Russ I like those - been looking at them but nowhere does it say they'll work with forward controls - so I've been hesitant. By the way the link you posted, the catalog - I wonder how old that is...the 719-1-2M are $263.95. On Paughco's website now they're $397.95 + $102.95 each heat shield...not sure I'm ready to spend >$600, esp if I can expect the pipes to rust again after one NYC winter.

Thanks again you guys for your suggestions and help I appreciate it!

Those are mufflers with baffles inside same as slip ons only they're welded on to the headpipes instead of clamped on. Some baffles you can see thru, others you can't. Someone may have punched them out. Generally not removable with tapered ends.
What I meant was the outside of the mufflers between them and the frame and/or crossover tube. Might have to remove them to see it. In this case they come off with the headpipes in one piece.

Long time ago, I was able to buy just one pipe of a set Paughco sold by contacting the company. Front pipe was fine, but needed to replace a rear pipe. Those days, when customer relations were that flexible, may be gone but it could always be worth a shot!

Thanks Gunner, thanks Russ - I think I got it ... once I pull the pipes maybe I'll find some writing somewhere. I'm def calling Paughco to see if those staggered pipes work with forward controls and maybe they'll let me buy just one...like you say it's worth a shot!
Thanks again.
