Default Manifold -CYLYNDER head connection

The O rings,I tryed the tape ,good idea ,I think, however I discovered after a two week wrestling match that it does no good if your heads are not aligned at least very close,I thought mine were,I did it by eye and they looked perfect ,but as the Bowery Boys said" it was an Optical delusion!",what I realized then did was take everything apart again ,loosen the base nuts just like before, after the cylinders were loosened and free ,( l loosened them with a hammer handle in the intake ports.) I then put the manifold and clamps on without the O rings and tightened them down so the clamps set the heads in perfect alignment with the manifold, once tight,I tightened down the base nuts so they were locked in properly to that position.
Now I realize I could have just put the O rings on at that point but I didn't ,thinking too much I guess, and it probably seems like "No Shit !" To some but I never thought of doing it and never read of doing it this way and I thought I could "eyeball" it pretty good but I was mistaken AND if I can be mcfuddled then maybe ,just maybe, others can too,so I wrote this down so those less perfect ,can use my experience for help.

I just did this again a couple days ago. Rooted through my pile and found a new pair of the 2 piece clamps. Made me wonder how the hell I ever did it with the old clamps. With the 2 piece, you can hold everything with one hand and do the clamps with the other.

If you follow any of the builds in the "EVO" sections, you'll see a lot of comments on leaving or loosening the cyl. bases to get the intakes aligned. Live and learn.
