Did that cover installing everything on the frame? Or just the frame itself?

The $1300 wasn't just for the bars, it was for the bars and installation. Now I wouldn't pay it either, however for the first few years of owning my bike I would not touch anything that would kill me if it came off. That included bars, wheels, and forks. I eventually got over it and now only pay for the things that I don't want to do like dealing with smelly fork oil.

My point being there are quite a few who are not comfortable doing that work or not capable either due to lack of skills or lack of a place to work on the bike. And there are some who simply not interested in doing that type of work.

that's a lot for bars and installation. but if other people don't have a problem spending their money then so be it.


me on the other hand ..... i try to do everything myself. i hate giving people my hard earned money. my sister's husband and i even made a diy tire changer outta an old car rim and some scrap metal to save money.



when i changed to clip-ons i rewired controls and everything.

I agree it's a lot to spend for the bars. Personally, if I could not do the work I'd likely skip them unless there was no way I could ride without them

In my case the quote was not just the bars and installation. That would be a half ass job given the stupid pullback riser.
Risers/bolts, top clamp/bolts, Speedo housing and seals, directional mounts, brake cable, clutch cable, throttle cables, Wiring extensions. Tank need to be pulled to tuck the wires so they're no longer seen.
Now swap out, install, whatever everything and adjust it and don't scratch my fricken bike either.
It included everything I needed and the install/adjustment of everything.
Now I wasn't about to pay it. I was just curious.
But I can certainly see where it's justified. The amount of time I had in from start to finish.
Hell, I bet there's many members here that don't have a clue how to change a clutch cable and adjust it let alone all that was involved.
As someone who bills my professional time out in a similar manner, I can see where it adds up.
If you don't agree with how I bill my time, you're certainly free to buy your own semi and truck your own $h!+. Otherwise you're gonna pay up.
See where I'm coming from.

Realistically, it's probably 6-8 hours @ $75 - $100 per. Approximately $400 - $450 in parts. Do the math.

when i went to clip-ons i started with the factory buckhorn bars. so i basically had to do all that but in reverse. well by reverse i mean i had to shorten everything. i also had to figure out a way to re-mount the speedo with the headlight visor on the bottom of the upper triple.

I got my mini-apes installed by the dealer for around AU$1400 if I remember correctly. Installation included the cost for the bars, replacing the OEM riser with a proper XL1200V speedo housing + riser + LED indicator bar, braided brake line, diamondback cables, etc. Adding up the labour and parts together, the price tag was quite reasonable for me. Well worth it, and I find it easier to maneuver and handle the bike. I would never go back.

If ever...
Personally i would go to Clubman... since you have to add also rearsets... and all the goodies concerned either on front than on rear lines... price will be well north of 2k euro...
