I've appreciated Bone's input on many subjects and have been in agreement far more often than not. Too bad he's wrong this time.

Speaking of which I stopped by a stealership this afternoon that happens to sell EBR bikes. Good lawt what a stiffy inducing bike the 1190SX is. If I wasn't so immature and had control of my hooligan gene I'd be so tempted to buy one. But I'd own it for a couple of weeks until a rode myself six feet under.

That it was built by a subsidiary of Harley.

Just stumbled upon the recent resurrection of this thread and had to throw in my small coins

Having skimmed the majority of the thread, a better poll might have been 'What Makes a Harley a Harley?' Only then can it truly be established what does or doesn't make a Buell a Harley.

By strictest definition, it would be what is designated in the VIN.

The lineage of those involved in concept and manufacture, the similarity of components used, the showroom where it was sold, the majority shareholder's name, the etherial quality of a brand lifestyle...right on down to the warm and fuzzy feeling it produces as it stirs the innermost elements of your soul; it is all a matter of personal definition [read: opinion].

If there is a MZ on the plate, it's a Buell, and by definition, not a HD. If it makes you feel good to draw the association between the two as one most certainly can, by all means. This is all about what makes us whole and happy.

Two wheels are two wheels...preference be to the meat that sits between them. The rest is marketing bullshit and really isn't worth thrashing on, IMO.

This is all nonsense brothers and sisters.

Pick a company that you wish to support with your money and buy any one of the offerings from any of the underling companies. As long as you're riding two rather than four wheels, your life is richer than a cager's. Whichever bike is better all depends on preference. Everyone's yardstick for ideal is different.

Buell = Harley-Davidson = Aermacchi = AMF

Why can't we all just.... build cool things and get along....

It's a Harley to me. Don't think I'd ever buy one, I'm not a fan of the styling but they have a dedicated fan base.
I go to classic car shows & Jensens, Bristols & Facel Vegas are accepted by the Mopar owners.

I cannot fit intake rubbers from a buell to my bmw.

But. I got Yamaha FJ1200 intake rubbers on order from china in the hopes that they fit my bmw.
If they fit? Does that make my BMW a Yamaha?

The hairs that split on this forum just get thinner and thinner.
