Default XB12R Firebolt How-to lower rear & higher bars?

My good friend just bought a 2005 XB12R Firebolt and is very uncomfortable. He's not very tall and like me, has a bit of Buddha belly. His biggest issue is that he is leaning so far forward, that he cannot see out of his full coverage helmet.

I knew going in that the rear sets and clip-on's was going to cause him issues. We need to lower the rear as much as possible and raise the bars, be that via Heli-Bars or similar products, or conversion to handlebars.

Can anyone provide me with suggestions to keep the project relatively low-buck. He only paid $1500 for the bike that needed new tires, so he's into it for about $2K. He's a very casual rider so any reduction in handling will never be noticed.

The lower pegs, don't help much for the leaning forward issue but there are conversion kits to install taller handlebars. Just have to look around.

The Heli Bars raise the bars 1" and 1.5" rearward while keeping the clipons and all the brake and clutch parts. They can be found sometimes on ebay or call the number on the helibars site: https://www.helibars.com/



FWIW: The lightening model is the one he probably should have purchased just for this reason. I have a 2009 firebolt and I am 6'2" with a similar issue, but I live with it since it is such a blast to ride.

If he can't see out of his helmet because of the forward lean on a firebolt, don't waste your time and money with the bike. He is going to spend more money on mods to the Firebolt than he would buying a lightening or lightening scg.

I have the hellibars are my Firebolt and they don't make that much of a difference on the seating position. I actually think the comfort seat I have cancels out the more upright position they are suppose to provide.
