you'll quickly get used to the normal noises, then when you get a new or unusual noise it will really stick out like the sore thumb.

I posted the video because I wanted other iron headers to hear the engine noise behind the exhaust note. I'm running 50 weight oil like the manual says, I'm just hearing mechanical noise that makes me think something's wrong. Maybe that's just how the valve train or the cam set or the combined motion of all the parts sounds on these bikes. This is my first Ironhead, but not my first Sportster by any means.

I've seen them described as sounding like "bowling balls in a washing machine". They are mechanical, noisy beasts.

Sounds and noises are two different things. Familiarize yourself with the sounds it makes and youll hear noises when they occur.

^^^ this is exactly what I thought when I first got mine home and running...wtf is all that noise? and now after 5yrs it just seems normal.
