You can always just be careful and spray paint the engine, use high temp engine paint, but for best result I would break it down and have it powder coated, last longer and more durable

Yes it's possible, I've seen several on here and on chop cult. Try doing a search for for barbeque (bbq, oven, high temp) paint etc. Also called murdered out or blacked out sometimes. I've seen some good looking examples and some that may convince you to go another route. The black bike bible thread may have several.

Even though your motor is already out, you don't need to remove it to paint it. I did this one with barbecue paint in 86. Painted the motor and frame without removing it.

Use plastic bags to mask large areas. Vaseline can be put on small parts to protect from overspray. The VHT spray paint with ceramic holds up to heat well.

That is what is called a rattlecan rebuilt motor. BTW, none of my bikes have engines - they all have motors. Just can't get useta callin' 'em "enginecycles"!!

Are you painting or polishing?

Put a shot of dishwashing soap in the water and use a lot of it when sanding. It's gonna be messy! It sure is a lot easier when you can remove the parts yer polishing. Good luck and post pics.
