Default Saddle Bag Options

A number of people on this board are using different types of saddlebags (both hard and soft). And there will always be newbies coming in looking for options.

I know that I sometimes see stuff I've never seen before and it would be nice to see all ones options before buying a set.

How about we build a thread which can be stickied which tells about the option you've chosen?
  • Name of the bags/source
  • Link if they have a website
  • Price
  • Features
  • maybe a photo too

I'd love to get responses from lots of different people.

(EDIT - I'll grab the links from various posts and add them to the bottom of this post)

Here's ours:

LeatherLyke

www.leatherlyke.com

Price about $450 with mounting brackets and shipping

Hard ABS plastic that looks similar to leather. top hinged lid. Waterproof and locking. Quick-detach using 2 clips. Fastens to two small mounts which attach to the fender struts.

Requires turn signal relocation for mounting, however they do provide in inexpensive kit to perform this with the bags. We opted for the Harley relocation kit.

Available in two styles. Traditional with Conchos and Contemporary (what we got) without Conchos. We chose to cover up the LeatherLyke script logo using some reflective tape.

Pics:

OK, how about you guys, let's hear about Boss Bags, Harley OE Bags, National Cycle Bags, Willie & Max, Coretech, Tourmaster - whatever you guys use.

Kev

Saddlebags look really good Kev! But, if you ever come to Missouri, your license plate has to be legible.

I currently don't have or use any type of saddlebags to share with the forum. I do like the looks of these that Kev has though.

Great idea for a sticky, Kev!

I'd like to see the pics for each type of saddlebag, as that's been the reason I haven't bought mine yet. Never really know how they look until you mount them, and can't see shelling out the cash for something I may hate.

Saddlemen Jumbo Slant leather saddlebags mounted with EasyBrackets. These are quality leather saddlebags which hold their shape. They have a thick plastic backing making them perfect for use with the EasyBrackets, giving them a nice firm surface to bolt to the brackets. The EasyBrackets allow the bags to go on and off the bike in a matter of seconds, and they are lockable, once they are locked to the bike they are staying there! I love having storage, but I also love being able to take the bags off to give my Sportster a "sporty" look. The Saddlemens retail for about $160, and the EasyBrackets about $120. You will have to relocate the rear turn signals to do this. So for around $350 you can do this. Much cheaper than most of the HD alternatives.

Default I installed the H-D hard bags

But, I got them unpainted. Saved about $130 - $150 at time if I remember correctly, something over $600 at local stealer back in early '05. (The OEM MSRP has since gone up. ) The 'BJL' is the color code for Smokey Gold, there is one for unpainted but I forgot it, ask the parts guy.

This pix was more for the tank install, but you can see the bags moderately well.

I've been thinking of the Corbin bags, $1200 in primer - $1500 painted; color matching extra. But they don't look as bulky and have a greater capacity.

Got a cool semi-retro look to them. (Can't get pix from site, dang flash tech great to look at, but poop to show around. Look at link.)

I love this idea. Especially since I'm in the market for a set of saddle bags.

I went with the hard leather bags from HD. They are pricey $700.00 but very good bags. Locks on the bags and with the Ghost Brackets they pop right off.
