Besides all the Roman structures and the Vatican, we must have visited 30-40 old churches in the span of 3 days. Something magical about history.

to see half of Rome it will take at least one year...
even in my town some building have more than 900 years... and are still working... offices... universities... convents... and of course churchs and cathedrals

I was married in a country church on the hills... rebuilt many times... since the collapse of the west in the V century.... but even today you can recognize the roman structure...
her organ was designed in the 1600... still works...

Thanks guys... a couple of night shots from the same church. Lake Tekapo is in the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve, presently the only dark sky reserve in the Southern Hemisphere (though I'm aware of a couple of regions in Australia aiming to create similar reserves soon).

Blue hour with the Southern Cross and pointers visible early above the church

More stars joining the party

High cloud intermingling with the milky way. A half moon was rising on the horizon. (I need to remember to keep the condensation off my lens as the nights cool [blue halos around the brighter stars]... not used to needing to do that in the tropics)
