1979 xlh 1000 wiring problems
I recently picked up this sportster xlh 1000 and could really use some help getting it running again, start button Killswitch and horn do not work, looks like the wires have been messed with before, this bike has 4 circuit breakers any help would be greatly appreciated. Not Shure how to attach photos in here or I would.

In this thread is a link to an image of the wiring diagram - http://xlforum.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2073876
I can only suggest if you don't have one is get a service manual as it will have the wiring diagram.

WELCOME TO THE XLFORUM!
Just a heads up - You're going to want to post most Ironhead questions in the Ironhead section of the forum. It is the most popular place for Ironhead guys to hang out.
Ironhead Section is Here:

The XLForum Sportsterpedia has lotsa information. Here's the Ironhead wiring diagrams:
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...rtster_xlh_xls
For the RUN/STOP (KILL or R/S) Switch and the Start Button, the GRAY wire goes from the Ignition Circuit Breaker (CB) to the R/S Sw. The WHITE wire comes out of the R/S Sw and goes to the Start Button (while inside the housing). The WHITE wire also goes to the COIL & Cam Position Sensor with 12v power.
As for the HORN Sw, the ORANGE wire goes from the Accessory CB to a distribution connector & then on to the HORN Sw. When pressed, the power goes out of the HORN Sw on the BLACK wire, but changes to a YELLOW wire going to the HORN itself.
Use a multimeter to trace down where the power is flowing. Check the GRAY wire into the R/S Sw & check the ORANGE wire into the HORN Sw.
