Default narrow to mid glide conversion

ive been looking for a midglide kit for my 2003 883 custom. i 've come across some kits being described as "3 over", "6 over", ect. Does this number mean that the tubes are 3 inches longer or the trees have 3 degrees more rake? I sure would appreciate being schooled in this and the best way of going about this as well. i'm using a 19" front wheel if that makes any difference.

I am no expert and haven't seen the items you are mentioning. A web link maybe helpful but, I think it is talking about fork tube length.
If the trees are raked a few degrees that may require different length forks than stock to keep the frame geometry on line or perhaps even change it

They mean that the tubes are that much longer. If there is a rake in the tree's they will mention 3 degree, 5 degree or, 7 degree.

they've been around here over 10 years and make good stuff that's not overpriced..

They even have some affordable bolt on kits complete with axles and everything else.

Thanks for the replies. Since I posted the threads I read a few articles and I think I pretty much got the jist of it. Everything comes down to the trail. So, apparently even different tire sizes can effect this. So this brings me to a new question, I used to have a 21" on the front and replaced it with a 19". From what I can remember, the 19 had twice the side profile and they both pretty much were the same height. Correct me if I'm wrong, and thanks again for the replies, theres a lot of wealth in them!
