Default 1995 xlh1200 air filter

Hi folks, have some questions about the air filter on my bike.

I recently picked up this 1995 1200 sportster. I got the service manual as well, but some things have been changed, so trying to sort it out.

I'm pretty new to Harleys so if I mis "speak" please bare with me.

The exhaust appears to be screamin eagle slip ons, so I pulled the air cleaner cover to take a peak and this is what I found. It took me awhile of Google searching, but finally found reference to that back plate as being screamin eagle. Thing I'm confused about is the k/n filter that's obviously been cut to fit in there.

The only numbers on the filter I could find were c102 a8, c102 b8....which I'm thinking are just part numbers for the front and back rubber portions of the filter.

So, my question is, was/is this standard practice to cut the filter like this to make it fit? Does anybody have a reference part number for what the filter should be?

The bike only has just over 7000 miles, runs very nicely. I'm not looking to change anything in particular, just want to get a grasp on what's there. Any help, much appreciated, thanks

Some big assed pictures there!!!
I have exactly that setup.. I guess I never sweated the "cut out" thing.. long as it is sealed..
Note; Mine was Not installed properly, It held the Carb out too far, for the manifold to Seal at the Carb.
Some Modifications were required on my Part..
The K&N is the Only way to go...and they have cleaning reoiling Kits... That I have Never used.. a Filthy K&N will out breath anything else.. I can Prove that

looks the same as my filter. that's kinda how they looked back then. as long as the filter medium is in good shape, just clean it and re oil it.

K&N filter cleaner kit is available at most autopart stores.

the actual OE part has been discontinued by K&N, you can get similar ones and make them fit..
