Ironhead Ultima Ignition Issues

Thanks for the replies.

I pulled the ignition module this morning and sending it back for a replacement. I'm pretty sure it is a faulty unit but I'll at least be able to rule that out.

get rid of the factory coil and go back to single fire with the ultima coil.thats way better then wasted spark with dual fire.check yer wiring at the coil.on both of mine (74,000 on my '83 stroker street bike,absolutly no problems with the ultima)from the left side it goes blu,white pink since I run the front cylinder with short cable.when it shuts down is the coil super hot?could be a short in yer key switch,other wiring.like the hot wire to the switch grounding on somethin.you still runnin the relays?could be the ignition relay screwing up.i believe the problems in the regular wiring,not the ultima wiring.mick should jump in here.he knows everything about ultimas,not just swear by them like me.good luck

I ended up using my OEM coil because I twisted off the coil bolt that fires the front cylinder in all the on again/off again looking for a short circuit.

I am running a relay between the battery and the fuse block.

However, when the module circuit trips, I still have power to the fuse block and the rest of the bike. Also, none of my fuses have blown.

As bustert mentioned, it's a circuit within the module.

You might want to go back to washing your clothes on a rock down by the stream too , but I doubt it.
