I didn’t have it built, came to me in that form.

Well, I "built" it. It held together for about 100,000 miles, almost halfway to the implied warranty,

Had never heard of that type of failure before until it happened to me. I added just over 80,000 miles to it and the earlier years ran it aggressively. Now with old age and health concerns I’m pretty easy going. Can’t blame the engine builder when the bike made it to120,000 miles. Shit happens, fact of life.

Didn't mean to infer you should, just having a bit of fun after your post about your having a set of .575's that could be "refurbished". I knew the bikes' history.
FWIW I REALLY like the .575's in my EFI bike as I get the tuning more better dialed in...

I made another run out to New Mexico. I guess it's becoming a yearly thing. Left Sept 14 got home Sept 26. 7 days on the road, 4 540ish mile days, 2 340ish mile days and a 180ish mile day, 6 days visiting in Albuquerque NM and Aztec NM.

First trip I've ever made running a windshield. A 13-16" Memphis Fats Drop Top. It was great in the rain. I got heavy rain after Norton Kansas heading out and an absolute deluge starting at Il-40 and I-88 in Illinois coming back. I got home with an amazingly clean helmet! The rest of the time it sucked, adding too much noise and turbulent buffeting. It also cost 5+ (mostly +) mpg's. It was really nice to get home and go for a ride without it.

The SE .575 cams work great. The exhaust and cams pull hard from 3,000 rpm and EFI deals with what would be bad reversion with a carb from 2,000 to 3,000 rpm very nicely. I ran a 28T front belt sprocket again. 3,000 to 4,000 rpm in 5th is 63-84 mph and it rolls along in 5th nicely from ~45 mph.

The hybrid front forks also worked great. 2008 1200C tubes and (9") damper rods, with my '17 sliders with Race Tech springs and Gold Valves. Ride quality was far better that last year with HDs' one side crap cartridge.

I'm looking forward to doing it again next year. My hot rod "girls' bike" runs down the road pretty nice. The windshield will probably stay home...

FWIW absolute barometric pressure at 10,200 ft elevation is right at 70 KPa courtesy of Powervision.

Nicely done and thank you for your summary. Some serious mileage, not many members can roll like that!

The ride from just west of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin out to Albuquerque wasn't bad. 2 540 mile days and 340 mile last day so I'd be on the mountain passes during the warm part of that day. 2 days there then 180 miles up to Aztec, NM. 4 days there and a 340 and 2 540's coming home. Again the 340 so I 'd be on the mountain passes during the warmest time of day. Next year the return trip may be 4 350ish mile days. Might make it easier, might just make it take longer. I'll be 72 this November. I feel like I'm turning into a pussy...
