what cv carb is better, the older one like came on my bike or a newer model with an acc pump?

I think it would be good to get a newer one. Yours is the very first year they had the CV carb and it's probably worn out. The accelerator pump was an improvement. A lot of times you can get a used take off carb for cheap at the Harley shop if you ask.

The CV is a great all-around carb. I've got one w/pump if you are interested. It's an 03 model.

i think i figured out my problem. i removed the drag pipes and put a set of stock headpipes with screamin eagle slipons on it and rejetted the carb. it has the 45/200 jets in it now and i cleaned the hell out of it. trash in the carb?????????? float sticking??????????? hell i dont know, honestly i dont care.im getting 55 mpg its runs great and has a hell of alot better torqe curve now. i changed the look of it also. check it out and let me know what you think.
