Default CV float bowl check valve play

I removed the accelerator nozzle and check valve from my CV carb for a good deep sonic bath. After I reinstalled them, I noticed the check valve seems to have some up/down play in the port when shaking the float bowl.

I'm pretty sure the accelerator nozzle is installed deep enough, but is this up/down play normal?

Sure it's not the check ball in the acc passage that's bouncing around, as it should be?
You should have had to press the nozzle back in.
Press fits don't play.... normally.

YES - In your model (2003-earlier) that movable metal needle lives in the Accelerator Nozzle Cavity - and you will hear it rattle. It operates by gravity to close off the fuel path from letting fuel be pulled back out of the Accelerator Nozzle Cavity. It is not a tight fit - It needs to move to allow fuel flow in, then fall down to seal off the back flow.

If you pull out the Accelerator Nozzle, you have to be sure not to lose that check valve. And be sure it is reinstalled in the right orientation - pointed down.
