The cost of that inventory is almost as much as another Ironhead around here.
Spares of the harder to come by parts perhaps.
As said before, to each his own.

i hope you didn't get a new v-twin generator. if you did definintely keep your H-D gen.i tried that when i switched to 12 volt.the v-twin generator was a disappointment.i've had cycle electric gen.for many years now.

I got the Cycle Electric without the attached regulator. Just because it's cheap doesn't make it a bargain. This adage comes to mind when considering parts from v-twin manufacturing.

Owning and maintaining your own machine will likely lead to ownership of extra parts. Part of the fun. Service manuals recommend using known working parts to diagnose problems by the way.

The bike came with the HD manual, and a lift. How could I not work on it??

This is something I never intended to get into, but it makes sense for me. Its a new hobby that has been really good for me, especially during COVID. It takes me all the way back to when my dad would teach me how to fix my bicycle as a young boy. I was always hard on my bikes, and he wouldn't fix it for me. Another thing to be grateful for. Good parents.
