most of the time,if you take it to a reliable local electrics, guy ,he'll tell you what you need ,get it and put it in or even have him do it, it will be still cheaper than a new one,ask around at garages, whoever uses a guy the most ,thats your guy.I use a guy Ron's Auto electric,Near here in Bullville, N.Y. ,just a small business, but locally everyone uses him ,he's been at it since I was a pup and now his son is doing it,he apparently paid attention to his dad, because he is just as good.

take it down to a place that can test it for you if you don't have the tools, you'll find out what's bad, armature, fields, since you put new brushes in, if they tell you it's alright then replace regulator.
I'm sorry I should have said it is an upgrade for the genny Shovels, none the less a really nice product.

You can't afford to NOT buy a Cycle Electrics generator w/regulator.

You will just have to buy one when the other POS you buy fails.....

there's a cheap one for sale in the wtt wtb section

otherwise if you want to do on the cheap you have to open it up and rebuild yours.

if you know for sure its the gen take it apart. I always find the arm gets cooked on mine when I run with the battery low

I take mine to an electric auto guy who tests the arm

do not buy any cheap chinese/taiwan etc parts or gens like from jireh especially. they are a waste. i have had 2 and neither last longer than 2 weeks. I've had one last 2 days. i also see no need to pay 400 dollars for something i can rebuild in 30 minutes but you need quality parts

Please heed this wisdom. We have heard it on here before, over and over.

Well all gennys make noise. I have a stethescope that i listen with, and i have always heard a crunching sound coming from every one i have ever seen. Although I have never had a CE. I bought a genny from Jireh four years ago and it has yet to let me down. I have removed it from the bike perhaps seven or eight times over those years for various other reasons and have yet to re polarize it. I am lucky by all accounts from this forum as to its working without fail. But im always chasing any little rattles and clangs and bangs and am wondering if they are quieter than the cheap aftermarkets. That would be the only reason I would buy one since i have had good luck with the other. And yes gentlemen I do know they are the best, but up here in Canada, at $500+ just cuz someone says they are the best, doesnt quite put me over the top.................Yet. Just wondering
