By that argument, jets engines are 'superior', so we should all have jet engines!

an improvement IMO is an improvement... on a jet or riding a Vespa

sure a Sporty does not need it... yet is an improvement all the same... and not a dangerous thing

Jet pilots fly by instruments, and they need to see some instruments at any moment regardless of current head direction.
More to say, pilot is undesirable participant in fighter plane. Soon fighter planes will be unmanned, and this is well overdue.

For cars there were many attempts to make projected on-windscreen dashboards, but they never were in demand. Some cars just had it like a toy feature for wow effect, but not used daily.

One would assume that focusing your eye at something 2-3 inches away from your face would be faster than taking your eyes off the road to look at your speedo.
Oh, they put monocle into the helmet. I doubt to say what could annoy me even more, rather than glass in front of ONE eye

I remember, there was some project intended to beam HUD image directly into eye, so you get image focused on your retina directly. Interesting, did they come out with any product?

not unmanned... manned remotely...
and only some of them...
for the other... man crew will be paramount...

the philosophy imo is to never dislike more and new instruments to do things... even the simply ones

true for cars and bikes we are at the beginning of it all...
sadly we will never see the full development in our lives..

Tremendous technology but they appear noticibly larger and most probable, heavier. When seated in a vehicle with head supported but open air stream with cross winds I'm guessing not so much fun?

I just got back from a 3000 mi tour of the Southwest with two old friends on their Beemers. Both are long time seasoned riders trying out in helmet technology. All I saw for 10 days was fingers poking the sides of the helmets changing up from GPS to music to 2way radio (3 mile range) n whatever else was available and plugging stuff in at the motels at night n fretting over battery discharge rates. Me? riding along enjoying perfect weather, perfect scenery on a Harley..... they tolerate the HD cuz I have room for the pizza and beer.

Actually my 01 vette had it and I thought it was the cat's meow. I rarely looked at the cluster. Best road car I ever had if you're needing to roll up a thousand miles at a time.

We had a 2012 Buick with it. The glass had this bizarre double pane effect where lights would have a distorted glare with dual highlights. I hated that windshield so much in the dark. Not bad in the daylight, but I turned the HUD thing off pretty quickly on that car.

Pretty sure it's an option on a bunch of cars these days though. I know when I was asking about a replacement windshield for my current car, that was a question in figuring out the right part.
