I thank you all for your very kind remarks. I like Bert's idea (obviously!) and hope to learn more about those who call this place home and what drives your passions for Sportsters. I encourage you to assemble some photos and submit to Bert's interview and share with the rest of us something about you and your love of bikes.

There is a certain risk we take when we modify our bikes. Some will choose performance enhancements, some will choose appearance, and some will choose some combination of these. I can easily see some of our participants seeing painting and chroming as style over substance, believing that level of customizing might mean the owner would prefer conversation and display over riding. I personally think truth and justice lies somewhere in between. I absolutely love to ride, always have. I also have some idea of what I want my bike to look like and have finally had the means to make that a reality. If folks like its appearance, fine. It will never be parked outside a mall or dealership just to spark conversation however. It will be on the road and is more likely to be parked outside a diner with a flickering sign that says "Eat Here" or at some truck stop on a back road where there is some peace and solitude and where admiring glances are probably more genuine...

This isn't a show bike: it's Jeff's Sporty.

I can't wait to see yours.

I would like to also imput that anyone can submit their bike for Featured Sporster of the Month. You do not have to have a custom paint job or a high performance bike. If you want to be featured just take some GOOD photos and let me know.

When submitting your photos be sure that they meet the following:

1. In focus
2. Not too dark
3. Not background distractions like your car, truck, garbage cans, etc... (I have seen photos of BEAUTIFUL bike that were spoiled because of stuff in the backgorund that just did not belong).

Remember that to take a good photo of your bike the front wheel should be straight. It is even better when the bike is propped up straignht also but do not endagner yourself or your bike trying to get it exactly straight.

This does not mean that if you can not have anything in the background. If the background compliments the bike or visa-versa then send it my way.

Excellent article, beautiful bike. I really enjoyed reading in more detail about another forum member's bike and learning about the person behind the keyboard, so to speak. Glad to know we're in such good company. Thanks Bert & Jeff
