Cool XL883L Headlight Flip / Eyebrow Removal

Hi all. Since purchase of my 09' 883L I have tweaked and modified all I can. I stumbled here off of a search for an easy way to flip my headlight. Now I'm not talking about just drilling a hole on the lower tree; I actually am looking for a way to make a simple bracket to raise the factory light and harness either in line, or above the upper fork. I caught a picture of a black sporty that had this done in here somewhere, but I can't find it now that I am trying to. So basically the look I am going for is the springer style high headlight. I am trying to avoid cutting wiring, but am not opposed to trimming the eyebrow if need. Pictures of my 883 can be seen on flickr if you simply browse for 2009 883L. I havent posted the most recent pics because they were at night, but the handlebars are now rolled forward straight up to allow the mirrors to be flipped underneath the handlebars, and then spike-capped.
Also, the speedo has been moved left of the motor, so clearance of a bracket is of no concern. Anyway, pictures, references, or feedback guys, your call, just send my some thoughts. THX

The hanging headlight from the brow is as about traditional as a Sportster gets. Being a purist at heart …
However, just removing the brow and tuning the headlight upside down is going to create two off the bat issues. Issue 1: You’re going to have the 2 mounting stubs in the upper triple tree and very little way to hide them. Issue 2: You’re going to have to drill into the lower triple tree to adapt some way to mount the headlight from there, ala the Custom method.

You did say you wanted a high mounted headlight similar to the springer, which by the by is unique to that front end. I suppose with some thought and then some talent you can work something up. But, to do it right, you have to, in my opinion, make it look like it came from the factory that way. Plan, plan and plan some more.

Thank you for the welcome. I'm from Kansas City and the 09' 883L is my second bike, the first being a 1972 Suzuki GT750. The breaking of the 750's motor facilitated the need to get a new motorcycle, and fortunately the Sportster fell into my lap. I have already enjoyed 2800+ miles on it after purchase in April. The size of the bike is perfect for a smaller build guy like me and there is always plenty of oomph on tap. Also nice is the fact that there is lots of little tweaking things one can do to it and still maintain factory specs. I am glad to have the moto and glad to have found the XLforums. Thanx and safe riding!!

Welcome from Tinley Park IL Here is what I did. Drilled hole in triple three and got a new light, made the mount out of 3/4 key stock that I got at work. The had it powder coated.
