I believe that Buell will come back, no one will buy them again, they will go away again. Just my $0.02 Hope I'm wrong....

This is a pretty good guess. Harley screwed that whole ordeal up.

Erik Buell had a unique vision of motorcycle design. Since he's not involved with this iteration of the company, buyers will have to keep in mind that merely sporting the Buell name does not mean they are getting a "Buell", so to speak.

I really hope they do better than the EBR brand of boutique and race-only bikes and actually do come to market with something within the realm of normal paycheck people. While the HD based bikes were expensive they were still something a 20 year old could buy with just a little more pain than a Japanese sport bike. Heck I would just love to get another shot at buying a tube-framed Cyclone again.

Not that I disagree about the idea of an affordable Buell, but when I was 20 a bicycle would have been a large expense and a Buell would have represented the majority of my yearly after tax income.

I will grant that I view things through the lens of a typical middle class suburbanite, not wealthy by any means but not going hungry.

I grew up in one of the wealthier zip codes in the country. My friend bought a CBR600F3 in 97 but that was at 24 and a few years in as a mechanic - we thought it was a real luxury. Rent (mortgage in my case), utilities, food, car, auto insurance, health insurance, clothes etc. eat up a lot of cash. Unless of course someone else is maintaining you.
I only push the issue because the lack of funds for young folks is one of the reasons the manufacturers say sales are down from the peak years.

I'm with you about prices getting out of hand. When you can't get a Sportster for under $10k (and don't mention the wet turds of the Street line) its cutting their own throats. Lots of manufacturers have sub 500cc machines with good performance, style and features for $4-6k but for some reason HD won't pursue the market for those buyers. I cannot imagine spending $12-15 thousand or more for a bike and I am better off financially in my late 40's than my parents were when they retired.
