Default battery connection

hi guys

i would like to connect a garage door opener and maybe a car lighter connection (to charge a phone, for example) to my battery but im not sure as to where i can connect the wires to the battery.

any help?

On the rubbermount Sportsters, it is almost impossible to attach directly to the negative battery terminal, but you can attach the negative side right to the engine case... there are a couple of ground studs to attach to. As for the positive side, you can either go directly to the battery, or you can look at a schematic and attach to a point on the other side of the ignition switch so that the accessory plug doesn't stay on all the time.

However you end up doing it, make sure you have an inline fuse in your accessory harness... you don't want to have a meltdown!
