Differences - IH Vs Evo Clutch lever & Cable?
Hi All,
Just in case my homemade hydraulic clutch for my 79 XL1000 doesn't work, I want a fall back cable option.
I dont have the original levers, so my question is can I use an Evo XL clutch lever and a IH (or Evo) cable on my 79 IH?
As far as I can see, the only difference between an IH and Evo XL cable is that the free length (inside the primary) is 7 inches for the IH and 3 inches for the Evo. If that's correct, then a Evo lever and IH cable should work ok together, or I could modify an Evo cable by cutting back its outer to give the7 inches free length.
And would a clutch lever made for a Big Twin Evo work with a Evo Sportster cable? Not sure how different the levers are..
Thanks, Lee

Don't know about the cables but I've read here that the levers interchange.
For future reference, ya prolly wanna put all yer Ironhead questions in the Ironhead section. You'll most likely get a lot more action in that section. I really wanna know about yer hydro set-up. Do ya have any info or pics of the construction that ya wanna share? I am waiting breathlessly...

Thanks for the info.. wasn't sure which section was the best for my question.. the details of the hydro clutch are included in my Norley build thread in the Café racer section.
