Trapdoor bearing
Hey all,
Got a new main shaft bearing in the mail the other day and it’s a bit different than what I had in there. One side looks like this: 
The side other is smooth. Any particular direction to put this in? I’ve already put it in so that the above side will face out toward the primary side and then I started second guessing myself. Not sure it matters, however. Thought I’d check with some of you with more knowledge than myself.

the shielded side should face outward.that's to keep the ratchet gear spring from getting caught in the open side.the open side facing inward gets additional lube from the transmission oil.most of those bearings come with shields on both sides.
