It's probably just me. I'm getting old.
But it's like when I go to my Doctor. I ask him "What's wrong with me Doc ?"
And he says "Everything." But then always follows up with the Question. "Is there something particular bothering you ?"
So, then, I have to explain what's wrong with me. But that's why I went to him. So HE could tell me what's wrong with me. I shouldn't have to be telling him that. That's why I pay him all that money.
And then, a lot of the time he insists on tests. Numbers and graphs. Always with the numbers and graphs. Why is he so insistent on knowing these numbers ? I thought he had all this training, this knowledge, the degrees and the experience. Yet he still wants to look at the numbers. Why doesn't he just know ?
And the questions ?
What happens if you stand up suddenly ? Can you still touch your toes ? Is the pain worse when you get up in the mornings ?
Why doesn't he just know ?
Oh. Do you think I should be using a multi-grade on my tires instead of the HPR50 ?

You may actually be on to something there.
The only bike I can ride on the road is my 74. With less than 5K on the clock still it wears the original tires (I know, I know - but I don't ride fast on the road).
Anyway. Still has mostly "Factory Air" in them. I have added some fresh air, but might be a problem ?

It's even worse than that. I'm still 5 days away from getting into my new workshop and back to my bikes/projects. This is like being in tthe slammer for me. Enforced idleness with little but my brain to occupy me. (My little brain ?)
You try not spinning spanners for two months and see what pills they put you on.

For some reason thoughts on a generator crossed my mind. In this way.
Back in 1968 (from memory) REVs magazing, a highly respected magazine, published an articale about an IH they "tested".
The ONLY negative thing they could find to say was "The big ugly starter motor on the front of the engine."
Which told me all I needed to know about that particular "reporter".

I learned a long ago that doctors are much like mechanics. Most of them use 'trial and error' methods of troubleshooting, rather than superior knowledge & deduction.
With the pharmaceutical companies now pressuring doctors to keep up the flow of chemicals to the patients, and the multiple, extensive side-effects of each attempted cure, it's amazing any one survives going to the doctor's office.
Sorta like our bikes not surviving a visit to the Stealer's Service Dept...
