Default Key

Just bought 2007 883
It has only one ignition key.

Local ACE said they don't have the blank to make copies of MC keys.

Is this a dealer only thing?

Can I get a "new" key, I'm wary of copying a used key to make other keys.

You should be able to order a set of two keys from the dealer.
You will need the key code off your key.

I bought two keys a few years ago, I believe it was about $27.

You will need a real locksmith. They will use the key code. Should be on the key, not sure where else. I didn't ride the Sportster today to check. H-D might can give it to you from your VIN#.

Some online places, too.

https://www.cyclekeysonline.com/

Since you only have the one key, that means somebody else has another key to your 2007 Sportster. I would get everything rekeyed.

I had a spare key made at Lowes. I think it cost about $2.00

I also ride an '07 883.

Finally went to Mobile Bay H.D.
Two new H.D. keys, based on my VIN, for $34, which seems high, but I was spending too much time running around etc. I didn't want a copy of the used and worn old key.

We'll see in 10-14 days if they work
