Default 2018 does not start - no speedo power, no blinker, good battery

I got one for you. ride the (2018 1200 48 special) home last night. very light rain at the end. barely got wet. anyway, so today I attempt to turn the key on, NO light or data on the speedo. NO blinkers, brake lights, and NO starter. battery is strong - headlights and rear/front running lights are good. checked voltage. 12.9, and headlights are strong as ever. took off the seat and looked for anything obviously not connected, loose, etc...... nothing. thoughts?

I think I would start by checking the Powertrain Ground - There are two ground circuits connected there. If one is bad, you might have some power but not to all devices.

If the grounds are good, start working your way back towards the fuse box and the computer. I'd go through the fuses especially, but also check the back of the board / box. There's been corrosion problems in the past there I've heard. Also, I've gotten water up into the computer once or twice. If it's not dried out, it can cause trouble. I've lived in wet places and taken my bike snorkeling a time or two. Water can get into the damnedest of places...
But really. If the grounds are good, check the fuses. It's easy and free to check. Always start with the cheap stuff.

Try putting the black lead of the meter on the engine case, and the red on the positive battery terminal. That may show a poor ground if the reading is lesser than straight across the battery.

The second most likely suspect here is the battery cable connection to the ground post on the engine case. The first likely suspect is the ground post behind the starter on the back side of the primary. There are two harness grounds tied there, and they corrode inside the crimps.

Best plan is to remove them, clean the connecting surfaces and cable ends, then also remove heat shrink and look for corrosion in between the wire strands. If you see corrosion, use the cutting jaw part of a vise grip to carefully re-crimp the crap out of it over the original crimp. That will work for a long time. Then upon reassembly, move the battery ground cable to that same post that the harness grounds are on. That puts it on the same side of the case seam as the starter and keeps all the grounds together tied solidly to the battery. That's a win, win, win, win.

Do not heat shrink ground wires it is useless and allows for condensation to be trapped in the crimp area. The grounds are same as the frame, and we don't put heat shrink all over the frame either.
